Emma Banchoff

Emma Banchoff (BR '16) is from Arlington, Virginia. She is majoring in anthropology with a focus on medical anthropology. Emma spent last summer working at a youth-focused NGO in Istanbul and witnessed firsthand the complex anti-government protests and riots that racked the city. Already having confronted issues of social injustice through years of volunteering back home, Emma's time in Istanbul illuminated the macro connections between health, politics, and culture present in a larger metropolis. Emma's primary academic interests focus on the relationships between different social identities and health equity. She is particularly interested in sustainable development and mental health. Emma is the co-chair of the undergraduate council of Yale's Saint Thomas More Catholic chapel, and a four-year member of Best Buddies, an organization that promotes social inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Emma also sings a cappella with The New Blue and works in the Branford Master's Office.
