Claire Young

Claire Young (TD '19) is a sophomore in the development track of Global Affairs. She has lived in Burma, New Zealand, France, South Korea and Mali. She started a microbusiness, The Baobab Boutique, exporting Malian jewelry to South Korea to fundraise for community health workers and rapid diagnostic testing for malaria. She is also involved in advocacy for protection of women's reproductive health care in West Africa and a local-based campaign to end female genital mutilation. She currently works at the Political Violence Field Lab conducting research into causes of war, and hopes to further this research to address the human and health-related costs to armed conflict. Claire also works as a translator for French to English and is the Director of Logistics for Yale Association for African Peace and Development.
